① Message from the President

Friends working in Japan’s domestic agriculture often spoke to me about their concerns for the future.
Their voices were the starting point of my interest in the fresh produce industry.

As the shortage of successors continues to grow, it has become clear that domestic fruit production in Japan will continue to decline.
For this reason, I decided to focus on the distribution of imported fruits—varieties that are difficult to cultivate domestically.

Since the 1980s, I have been involved in introducing tropical fruits such as mangoes, papayas, avocados, and kiwifruit to Japan, fruits that were still unfamiliar to the market at that time.
Among them, mangoes are especially sensitive to ripeness control, as the period from harvest to optimal eating condition greatly determines their flavor.

This process requires a high level of awareness and careful craftsmanship from everyone involved—growers, exporters, importers, and sellers alike.
Together with proud and dedicated farms at origin, we carefully determine the right harvest timing and deliver fruits to Japanese consumers in their truly best condition.

We will continue to move forward with sincerity every day, striving to deliver fruits that bring smiles and genuine inspiration to our customers.

Juyo Yokogami
President & CEO

Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Tokyo University of Agriculture.
Specialized in fruit tree cultivation and development techniques in the Pomology Laboratory.

After gaining experience in fresh produce distribution, he became involved in quality control and market development for imported fruits, building a hands-on, field-driven business approach. Guided by the belief that “business is about creating inspiration,” he promotes initiatives that serve as a bridge between production areas and markets, and between the field and consumers.

③ Message Toward the Future

Fruit is my life itself.

My grandfather worked with Taiwanese bananas, and my father built his career as an importer of kiwifruit, avocados, and mangoes—devoting more than 45 years especially to mangoes alone.
Growing up in such an environment, I tasted mangoes from around the world from an early age, naturally developing a sense for quality and true flavor.

My goal is to deliver not just “good taste,” but a level of flavor so impressive that people want to return to it again and again.
To achieve this, I focus on building a supply system that prioritizes taste above all else.

In pursuit of deeper expertise, I have visited farms in Japan, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Taiwan, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, and beyond.
By learning directly from growers, understanding cultivation environments, and experiencing local food cultures and menus, I continue to search for new ideas to redefine how fruit can be enjoyed in Japan.

In Japan, mangoes are often associated primarily with desserts, but overseas they are widely used as everyday cooking ingredients.
By applying these global perspectives, I hope to introduce new possibilities for fruit on the Japanese table.

Currently, I also participate as a judge in fresh produce competitions organized by the Japan Vegetable Sommelier Association, contributing to the development of the fruit industry.
Through exposure to a wide variety of fruits and varieties, I am constantly reminded of the depth of produce and my gratitude toward growers.

At the same time, Japan faces a serious decline in fruit consumption, particularly among younger generations.
According to surveys by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, fruit intake among teenagers and people in their twenties continues to decrease year by year.
If this trend continues, the future of fruit culture itself may be at risk.

That is precisely why I want to share the deliciousness and joy of fruit with more people.
My hope is to create a society where fruit is not seen as something special, but as something naturally present in everyday life for the next generation.

With this vision in mind, I will continue to communicate the appeal of fruit and work toward a richer fruit culture for the future.
